Exercise 01

In this exercise, the lecture have provided us a original soundtrack (Flat) and the other 6 edited tracks which is different from the original one to let us identify which part of the soundtrack doesn't match the original, it might be the bass or the treble. after identifying  we will need to use the  Parameter Equalizer to adjust the frequency of the sound.  - Week 01

Reflection:

In this first exercise, I felt overall in control and could clearly identify what changes were needed for the parametric equalizer. However, I had a hard time working with Equalizer 6, as I couldn't quite understand what was causing the issues but there is a issues. Despite this, I learned a lot about what a parametric equalizer can do and how the multitrack feature helps in comparing voices. This exercise has provided me with a solid foundation in using Adobe Audition.

Exercise 2

In this exercise, the lecturer provided us with a sound and asked us to adjust the Equalizer and Rack to simulate different environments (telephone, bathroom, walkie-talkie, and others). - Week 02

Original (Sample_Voice)

Sound 01 -Telephone

Sound 02 -Closet

Sound 03 -Walkie Talkie

Sound 04 -Bathroom

Sound 05 -Stadium

Reflection:

In this second exercise, we started exploring how to use the equalizer to shape the sound environment. I faced several challenges, especially in identifying how the sound interacted with the environment. However other than the difficulties, it was an interesting experience overall.

Exercise 03

In this exercise we will need to use effects in Adobe Audition to create sound effects for an explosion, firecrackers, and a triple punch. - Week 03

Explosion

Firecrackers 1st version

Firecrackers 2nd version

Triple punch

Reflection:

In Exercise 3, I explored different effects to modify the voice and found it interesting how even a slight adjustment can make a big difference. Also in this exercise the most challenging part i think it will be to create the firecracker sound, but overall, it was a good experience in exploring effects and understanding what each one of it does.

Exercise 04

In this week’s in class exercise, we need to adjust the sound to make it move from left to right or right to left in the multitrack using the parametric equalizer, as well as pan and volume in Adobe Audition. - Week 04

Main exercise
for the main exercise we will need to bring the visual to life with sound with the two provided image provided by the lecture .the key is to dissect and analyze the image and create a sound scape narrative according to our own interpretation.
**sound should be just few seconds, less than 1 minute**

Environment 01

For the first environment, I want to create a soundscape that highlights two guards or explorers patrolling a room on a mission. They are receiving instructions as they enter a room that is empty but filled with machines. The atmosphere should feel both fantastical and tense, incorporating the sounds of machinery, weapons being prepared (like guns), walkie-talkies, and footsteps.

To create this sound, I first downloaded some audio clips using the website provided by the lecturer and imported them into Adobe Audition. For this environment, I mainly used the parametric equalizer to adjust the pitch of the sound. I also applied effects like echo and pitch shifter, and adjusted the pan and volume in the multitrack to achieve the effect of walking in space.

FINAL OUTCOME ENVIRONMENT 01

Environment 02

For the second environment, I want to create a soundscape where people enter through a gate and walk toward the machines. They then input a code, and a laser shoots out. Afterward, everything goes silent. The atmosphere should convey a slightly scientific and fantasy-like feel, with an empty space vibe. It includes subtle sounds like water dripping, and preparation sounds such as beeping and code-entering.

To create this effect, I have experimented with several types of sounds and combined them. For example, using sounds like a woman walking in high heels, people walking, a laser cut, and water droplets. Explored more sound effects in this environment compared to the first one. By added echo, stretched and pitched the sounds to make them longer, and copied and pasted them to extend their duration. I have also try to adjusted the volume and used pan to create the feeling of an empty room, with sound coming from both the front and behind. In this environment, I applied more fade-ins and fade-outs than in the first one. Additionally, I also used other effects and adjusted the parametric equalizer during the process.

Reflection:

In this last in class exercise, I discovered how powerful sound design can be. I found it fascinating and fun to hear how easily sound direction can be altered, allowing it to move from one side to the other. This gave me a new experience of how sound can transform and create an immersive effect.

For Main Exercise 4, I have speeded some time experimenting with different sounds to create the specific effect I envisioned. Initially, I faced difficulties achieving the desired sound environment, which led me to search online for the right functions and techniques. Through this process, I not only found the solution but also gained a deeper understanding of sound manipulation. I explored various effects, which allowed me to see how different tools like the parametric equalizer, multitrack volume, and pan could enhance the sound creatively. These features were particularly interesting to work with, as they provided greater control over the dynamics of the audio. Overall, this exercise expanded my knowledge of sound design and taught me the importance of persistence and experimentation.
