Exercise 01 - Analyze a Game
Critical analysis of an existing game.

Conjureby Kezia Lynn
The game Conjure, is created by Kezia Lynn, is a
visually engaging adventure where players must complete three levels to save a
city under threat. I chose this game because it was the only one I successfully
completed, and its attractive visuals drew me in.
Starting (Home Page)
The game Conjure starts with a homepage (Figure 2), where the player can choose to either start or quit the game. Once the player press to continue, the game introduces the story and outlines the main objective: saving the city . By pressing the 'Enter' key it then brings up the control scheme (Figure 4), which provides clear instructions on how to move and attack ghosts to avoid losing health. which is helpful to guide new players effectively.
One of the game’s standout features i think it will be its storyline (Figures 3), which sets the stage and defines the player's mission. While interaction with NPCs (non-player characters) is limited, each NPC has unique dialogue (Figures 3.1)that enhances the narrative, making the experience more immersive and meaningful .
Level 01 (Game Play)
After entering Level 1, the player needs to walk to the end of the path to find an old woman who gives the mission to retrieve a key for her. To get the key, the player must walk back to the opposite end and attack a tree to reveal the key hidden behind it. During this process, ghosts will pop up and attack, so the player needs to fight back.
However, I found this part of the game confusing. I didn't immediately notice where the key was, and only figured it out after someone told me what to do. In my opinion, the key wasn't very visible as it blended too well with the background causing many confusion. So by Making the key more distinct might improve the gameplay and make it easier for players to find.
Level 02 (Game Play)
After completing Level 1 and entering Level 2, I started searching for the next objective, but at the same time encountered a bug. The text box in this level only displayed the character's name and not their dialogue, which left me confused about what to do next spending some time exploring . However ,To progress, Player had to pick up wood first, then obtain meat by attacking a character at the other end of the map, and finally collect cloth when passing another character. If the player doesn't pick up the wood in front of the blue character at the first place, they will need to walk back repeatedly.
Additionally, one thing worth noting is that the character's walking speed is very slow compare to other game, which makes the gameplay feel less exciting and a bit boring. Increasing the walking speed might improve the overall experience and make the game more engaging.
Game Ending
The images below show the screen that appears after the player fails to pass the game, as well as the screen that appears after the player successfully completes the game.
Visual / Audio
I personally think that this is quit a chill game and also found the visuals of the game very attractive, especially the backgrounds and characters. Each character is distinct, making it easy for the player to recognize them, and the art style reminded me of MBTI characters. However, the background design is definitely one of the most impressive aspects of the game. Across all three levels, the changing environments each have unique features that made me feel like these places could exist in real life.
As for the audio, the game uses soft instrumental music from beginning to end, which maintains a calm and relaxing atmosphere throughout the gameplay .
Some attractive parts of this game
- Interesting story line
- Visual presentation of this game
- The music
- Game play mode (providing task for player to do)
- The game is not too complicated to play, making it suitable for beginners .
What i think can be improve
- Might consider to fix the bugs in Level 02 (so player can know what to do)
- In Level 01 the key can be more obvious (Could highlight with a glowing effect or a more contrasting color)
- The walking speed can be a little faster
- Provide clear instruction to avoid confusion (Instruction not clear enough)
Self Reflection (Exercise 01)
In this exercise, I was able to learn and understand some basic elements of a game. I also identified what can be added to make the game more playful. Since I had not played games like this before, it gave me the opportunity to experience new games and gain some ideas for designing a game. It also helped me develop a rough concept of what I can create for a game also as well as what I should consider to make my game more engaging.

Exercise 03 - UNITY CHALLANGE 01
During this exercise, I encountered several problems, such as not knowing how to code and having difficulty understanding certain aspects. I also kept getting errors indicating that I couldn’t assign the player to the script and that the camera wasn’t positioned correctly. However, after making adjustments multiple times, I finally got the camera set up correctly.
Exercise 04 - UNITY CHALLANGE 02
- This prototype was done in class. I struggled to follow along, and it took a long time for me to get it right.
- In this exercise, when the user presses Enter, the dog will be released, and the randomly falling ball will collide with the dog.
Exercise 05 - UNITY CHALLANGE 03
This week's exercise requires us to create a more complex project based on the PDF, incorporating both animation and sound effects.
This week, by applying sound and animation, I’ve found that Unity is quite interesting and fun to work with. It’s amazing to see how everything comes together, and the animation adds a special feeling to the project, making the experience even more engaging.

Prototype 03
Challenge 03- in this exercise is to implement user control and also sounds
Exercise 06 - UNITY CHALLANGE 06
This week, we are following the teacher's instructions from the PDF to build the game using the provided materials.
Even though I didn’t struggle or get lost as much as in previous weeks because there recording that I can refer back to for better understanding . I still feel there’s a long way to go before I fully grasp how the coding works.
Prototype 04
- The outcome for the prototype is that I couldn’t fully control the ball, so I haven’t won a single time so far. The ball’s direction is difficult to control, which makes gameplay challenging.
